About

Hi, I’m Ellen Coff, the designer and maker behind The Laser Shack. I first discovered laser cutting back in 2014, during my recovery from breast cancer. What started as a way to rebuild my life quickly became a creative passion, thanks to a lovely small business in Breda (The Netherlands) who took me under their wing and thought me all the laser-cutting ins and outs.

When my partner Amelia and I moved to Australia, we finally had the chance to invest in my very own laser machine. We converted a rat-ridden backyard shack into a cosy little workshop, though my Trotec Rayjet laser machine took up most of the space! Still, working from home gave me the freedom to experiment, grow, and pour my love for clever, joyful design into each piece.

After a few years selling at markets and the OmMade Meet the Maker shops, it was clear The Laser Shack needed more room to grow. We moved the whole setup to a bright, spacious workshop in Magill, where I still work today - even though home is now down in Hawthorndene. From wooden handbags to playful, bold hand-painted jewellery, everything I make is lovingly crafted to spark joy, tell a story, and maybe bring a little laser magic into your day.
